GX International
Can I just say how awesome the ministry of Impact World Tour is? These guys and gals are going to be sorely missed when they head off to Dayton next week. I can’t believe it’s come and gone already. *sighs*
The cool things is I had the opportunity to see GX International twice while they were in town. The first time a few weeks ago at Libbey High School filming with my husband’s show (inserts shameless plug for Contact 29.18 right here), and the second time this past Saturday at Savage Hall. It was interesting seeing it both times, because I got several different perspectives on the whole event.
At Libbey I got to see a lot of what goes on behind the scenes, as we were hooking up with Marty and James to get our media passes to film. We wound up hanging out in what looked like a locker room, where they had just finished eating and had entered into their praise and worship time. That was so cool to see because, unfortunately, many ministries are guilty of jumping right into an event without ushering in the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide them through the event first. I’ll admit I’ve even been guilty of that myself.
The event itself was so unique and such an awesome way of showcasing the talents from God in a relevant way. The arts of boarding, dance, and hip hop transcend any gender, social, denominational, or even age barriers out there. Even if you’re not into any of those types of activities, it certainly is fun to watch. The guys and gals put so much work into what they do and the fact that they’re willing to share it with the rest of us is phenominal.
Marty had made mention that these people volunteer their time. They have to raise their support in order to bring it to us free. That just staggers the imagination. The fact that our local community rallied behind this in the way that they did speaks volumes about the kind of community we live in. Lately we’ve been hearing so many negative things, so it’s about time we heard something good. Even better, seeing it put into action.
So off to this past Saturday at Savage, which was a whole different animal. Add in the pyrotechnics, some local skaters, and you’ve got the makings for an incredible evening. And even better was that I wasn’t hiding behind the lense of a camera. (No offense hon.)
I had the opportunity to see Marty rally the local links. That was so cool. To hear the testimonies of these people, as they help those in our area come to Christ and then get plugged in to a church thrills me every time. And healings. Wow! I guess Bowling Green was just off the hook.
I was also blessed to see several people that I knew. People like Jim Oedy, Scott Wood and Keith Stepp who not only support Yes FM, but support anything that would minister to our young people. Kids like Randy and his brother Jeramy who not only listen to the station, but were also helping usher. And, of course, all the people that make up IWT from the performers to the administrators and so forth. What a great way to pull together our community.
If any of you out there haven’t had the opportunity to get out to one of these events, I’d highly recommend it. They still have one weekend left down in Findlay and, while it may be a bit of hike from Toledo, but it’s definitely worth the drive.
In closing, a big thanks to everyone involved with this incredible ministry, and thank you for letting those of us at Yes FM be a small part of it.
